What DownSub does and does not do with the information involved in using the tool.
This DownSub Privacy Policy explains what DownSub does and does not do with the information involved in using the subtitle downloader — in plain language, without legal filler.
When you submit a video URL, DownSub uses it to look up public caption tracks for that video. The URL, the caption data returned, and the resulting subtitle file are processed only to complete that one request.
DownSub does not require an account, does not ask for payment details, and does not sell submitted URLs or generated subtitle files to third parties.
To keep repeated lookups fast, a successful result may be cached briefly on the server before it expires automatically. This cache is not a permanent archive of user activity.
Like most websites, the hosting environment may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and request timing) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not used to build user profiles.
To find captions, DownSub requests data directly from the video platform the link belongs to (for example, YouTube). Those platforms have their own privacy practices, which are outside DownSub’s control.
This page may be updated as the product changes. Continued use of DownSub after an update means you accept the revised policy.
