These DownSub Terms of Use govern your use of DownSub. By using the tool, you agree to them.

Permitted use

Use DownSub to download subtitles for videos you own, have permission to use, or where your use is lawful and allowed by the relevant platform’s own terms.

Prohibited use

Do not use DownSub to bypass private videos, paywalls, DRM, login requirements, or regional restrictions. Do not use it to redistribute, sell, or republish someone else’s copyrighted captions without permission.

No guarantee of availability

Subtitle extraction depends on the source video exposing public caption data. DownSub does not guarantee that captions will be available for any given URL, or that a source platform won’t change how it exposes captions.

Independent status

DownSub is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Vimeo, or any other video platform referenced on this site.

Limitation of liability

DownSub is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for how you use downloaded subtitles or transcripts, or for any consequence of a platform blocking or changing access to captions.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the product changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised DownSub Terms of Use.
